Eagle River Community Information
 Nestled between the Chugach State Park and Fort Richardson, just off Glenn Highway, are the quaint towns of Chugiak and Eagle River. This area continues to exude small town charm while providing big city amenities of nearby Anchorage. Approximately 30,000 people reside in the Chugiak / Eagle River real estate area. The area is rich in outdoor activities, such as ice hockey, cross-country skiing, camping, swimming and golf.
 The Eagle River and Chugiak area is served by eight local schools. Youth sports are also very popular. There are 800 5-18 year old kids that play both baseball and softball in the Knik Little League. There are several kids programs provided by the Mustang Hockey Association, such as the Learn to Skate program. Individual and family swimming lessons are available at Chugiak High School. Interested parties can learn to ice skate at the Harry McDonald Recreation Center, where hockey games are also played.
Alpenglow at Arctic Valley is a unique ski experience in the Eagle River. To keep costs down and prices at a reasonable rate, it is run by volunteers. The base of the ski area is at 2450 feet, but the lifts can take you as high as 4000 feet. Their Anchorage Ski Club has been around since 1937. Their main focus is to repair and/or refurbish any of the facilities in need in Alpenglow, increase summer recreation available and improve management of the club and Alpenglow. Membership is open to anyone. Every year, they even put a star on the side of the hill that you can see from Anchorage to Peters Creek.
 Eagle River is comprised of multi- and single-family homes, condos, mobile homes and zero-lot lines. The average price for a single-family home is currently $310K in the Eagle River / Chugiak area and the average price for a zero-lot line is $220K. The area's rate of growth is on a steady incline thanks in large part to the availability of suitable parcels of land for construction.
