Anchorage Economy
Anchorage serves as Alaska's transportation, communications and financial hub. Even though Juneau is Alaska's capital city, Alaska's government operates out of Anchorage, employing over 4000 state and 10,000 federal government workers. The four primary forces driving Anchorage's economy are transportation, oil/gas, convention/tourism and the military. In fact, the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport houses three separate military posts: Fort Richardson Army Post, Kulis Air National Guard and Elmendorf Air Force Base.

Anchorage School System
There are so many different Anchorage schools to choose from. Students residing in Anchorage attend public schools served by the Anchorage School District. There are 45 elementary schools, eight middle schools, six high schools, six charter schools, one school for the deaf and over a dozen continuation and secondary schools occupying Anchorage real estate. Parents also have 25 private schools to choose from in Anchorage as an alternative to public schooling.

The University of Alaska Anchorage is located in Anchorage as well. This four-year public school is the largest university in Alaska.

Weather in Anchorage
Anchorage weather is very mild in the summer (with a high in the low 70s in July) and colder in the winter (with temperatures reaching as low as the single digits). The Anchorage Forecast Office keeps tabs of the local Anchorage weather, which is tracked on a daily basis.

Things to See and Do in Anchorage
Nestled between the Knik and Turnagain arms of Cook Inlet and the scenic Chugach mountains, there are over 220 parks in the Anchorage real estate area. More than 200 miles of paved and unpaved bicycle and hiking trails, 130 miles of winter paved walkways and 36 miles of dedicated dog mushing trails are included in Anchorage's mix.

There is also a world class ski area and three major Anchorage golf courses in the area: Anchorage Golf Course, Tanglewood Lakes Golf Club and Russian Jack Springs Golf Course.

While in Anchorage, you'll have a front row seat to spectacular Alaskan wildlife viewing.

Anchorage's commute time between its beautiful suburban communities and its sophisticated downtown area is minimal. Homes on the Anchorage real estate market range from $125,000 - $5 million and almost all of these homes easily boast a beautiful view of Anchorage's surrounding mountain ranges.
